be a balloon!

be a balloon!!

Balloons could actually be the coolest things in the world.

Think about it... balloons are a little colorful sack that you can buy 20 for 79 cents at your local Walmart. You then rip the bag open and begin blowing and tying them up, one by one and balloon by balloon. (by blowing them up I mean blowing the sacks up with a mixture of a lot of carbon dioxide and spit) (which is kind of disgusting)

Even though distributing sacks of your own air is slightly weird, it actually brings bunches of joy to the person receiving the balloons.

Every little kid grins ear to ear while watching the balloon guy blow up, twist, and tie their balloon to look like a giraffe. Their eyes sparkle with joy when the man hands them their special balloon, and the kids  hold onto that balloon and will not let go. And balloons floating above tables at birthday parties or grad parties? Those have got to be the most happy and festive thing. Undeniable joy sweeps across the old man’s face when his family enters the hospital room holding balloons that say, Get well soon! And remember the movie Up? When the man’s house soars into the sky by using thousands of balloons, we all know you were thinking, “THAT’S SO COOL!!!”

The more I started thinking about balloons, the more I realized - I need to find out Balloon's secret to bringing joy to it’s holders. Could it be the different colors they are? Their weightlessness? Or maybe their ability to float? Here’s the answer — it’s the helium. The air. Without it, the balloon would just be an empty, boring, tiny sack of nothing. The air inside adds volume, it’s ability to float, and it makes the balloon different than everything else in the world.

So... how can I be a balloon?? I want to bring joy to the people’s lives I touch! The answer again lies with the air (or the helium). I don’t mean literal air, though, I mean Jesus. Me and you are the balloons that fill up with Jesus. And because of the air/the Jesus inside of me, I can bring joy to others around me too. Jesus is the One who makes me different than other people. He fills my soul with hope, peace, love, and joy. When I meet others, I hope I can give them a piece of my Jesus Air or Jesus Joy.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13)
Kind of random thoughts for my first blog post, I know, but oh well. I hope you got something out of that! (which means hopefully I made sense) (fingers crossed)

all love, bryn ♡
